Content: ¡Bienvenidos! In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Big Brothers Big Sisters is issuing a challenge, asking the Latino community, supporters and donors to pull together to ensure that every Hispanic child who needs a caring mentor will receive one. We invite you to attend a free event, Amigos: Unidos Para Los Niños, on Wednesday, October 14th from 6 until 8pm (see attached invitation). Learn more about the Big Brothers Big Sisters Latino Mentoring Program which began in 2003, meet the community-led Latino Mentoring Advisory Council, and learn how you can support us in our life-changing efforts. Complimentary reception included courtesy of Living Room Theaters and Genentech. Special guest speaker Superintendent Susan Castillo. In 2009 alone, Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest has supported 562 Latino Littles in 7 counties across Oregon and SW Washington. New data from a study conducted for Big Brothers Big Sisters by Harris Interactive finds positive impacts of being a "Little" continue into adulthood. The study found adult "Littles" are: * more likely to have a 4-year college degree * household incomes of $75,000 or greater, and * more likely to have strong family relationships.
